Stay Cool This Summer With Goji!

Thursday, May 1, 2008

The days are getting longer, flowers are blooming by the droves and the leather seats in your car are red-hot when you climb in in the afternoon. Summer is right around the corner and already people are grilling burgers and hot dogs out back, cracking the lids on delicious tubs of their favorite ice cream and pouring tall glasses of their favorite ice cold drinks to help quench their thirst under the sun's rays.

We at Goji-Dog.com love to break out the lawn chairs and big umbrellas for the hot days of summer, but this year we've been keeping ourselves busy with a new summer hobby - figuring out how we can incorporate the great taste and nutrition of our Himalayan Goji/GoChi Juice into our favorite drinks and treats that keep us cool in the summer. What we've found are three neat twists on classic summer favorites that you can make simply by adding goji juice. The results are new, great-tasting treats that will help cool you down, keep your feeling energetic, and boost your health all at the same time!

Goji Tea

Sweet tea - it's the light southern drink that's as cold as ice with a sweet refreshing taste. As much as we love tea and generally don't feel like it can be improved upon, we have to admit that adding a little goji juice really gives it a special kick that changes the whole experience. The characteristic lightness of the tea becomes much stronger, depending on how much you add. We preferred pouring about an ounce of goji juice into a full glass of tea, but you can experiment for yourself and see what you like best! The effect is similar to Boston Iced Tea (Cranberry Juice and Tea). One thing is for sure - it tastes great, keeps you cool, and is incredibly good for you! Your options don't end there however - virtually all kinds of warm teas can benefit greatly from a shot of goji juice!

Goji Lemonade

Lemonade is the staple of pool party's, backyard barbeques and beachgoers everywhere. It's the perfect thing if you want your drink to stay ice cold all the way down as well as giving you a strong tangy kick at the same time. We weren't quite sure how it was going to taste - goji juice didn't sound like it would go with lemonade quite as naturally as it did with tea - but we were pleasantly surprised to find that the end product was a very addictive drink! The goji adds some body to the drink, making it taste less like lemon-water and more like a strong, lemony fruit drink. Mixing about an ounce or two per glass gives you a drink that tastes exactly like it could have been marketed as the latest fruity energy drink. If you're like us you'll find yourself coming back to that glass of lemonade more often, but you can also rejoice knowing that your ice-cold refreshment is the most nutritionally dense lemonade on the planet!

Goji Pops

What is the summer without sweet, frozen popsicles? Not much of a summer to us. While we were thinking of creative ways to enjoy our goji juice we couldn't help but remember all of those kid shows that taught us how to make our very own frozen treats with nothing more than an ice cube tray and toothpicks. It seemed like the perfect way to make a simple frozen food out of a delicious juice, and that's exactly what we did. Pouring the goji juice into the tray divides it neatly into little squares that are nearly an ounce each. Then simply cover with top of the tray with saran wrap, making sure to press it down tightly over each edge so that the surface is taught. Poke a toothpick through the wrap over each cube of the goji juice, and then stick it in the freezer. After an hour or so you can remove the tray, carefully remove the wrap, and viola! Wonderfully delicious frozen treats that taste great, stay ice cold all the way down, and are amazingly healthy! We can't think of another ice cream snack that offers all of that, and it couldn't be any simpler to make. Children love it, so if you're a parent who wants their child to be getting plenty of nutrition, there's no better way of doing that that comes to our minds.

We hope you enjoy these fun twists on classic summer refreshments. To us they demonstrate how powerful a great-tasting health drink like Himalayan Goji Juice can be. Our goji juice can be added to any number of drinks and treats in order to add a great splash of flavor with a powerful punch of nutrition, or simply enjoyed by itself as its own delicious drink. We continue to come up with ideas like these in order to bring you the most enjoyable and delicious ways to reach complete and total health and well-being.
